LAH started with the Latino/a Migration Stories, the highly successful exhibit that recounted the stories of Latino migration to Ohio from diverse experiences and perspectives. Organized in 2002, this important project helped create public awareness about Latino culture and issues and brought together Latino leaders from various nationalities and professional backgrounds to consider creating an organization. The exhibit provided LAH with a platform to announce itself to the Columbus community and created expectations for the future. LAH is hoping to continue develop a second phase of the project and continue it as an ongoing, iterative community process.

Subsequent to Latino/a Migration Stories, LAH has embarked on a program effort that has included an evening of poetry and spoken word, Speak! (October 2003) and artist residencies in collaboration with Ohio State University On February 7-24, 2004, Latino/a Migration Stories at Hispanic Heritage Month 2007, LAH presented the successful exhibit Just Different/Tan Solo Diferente 2005, an exhibition of Columbus-based Latino artists, at the Neo Gallery in Columbus, Ohio, Vive Amarillo during the Hispanic Heritage Month 2008, Day of the Dead Community event since 2007.
