An altar is an offering made for somebody that is dead and you are doing it in their honor placing things that they liked while there were alive. You can include portraits and other personal items. It has to included; candles that represent the light for them to see the way to the offering, incense to clean the space where the offering is set up water because they will be thristy for their long way to comeback and flowers. Marigold flowers (cempazuchitl flower in Nahuatl).
